This is an unprecedented global citizen activist movement in solidarity with the people of Iran. On July 25, solidarity marches will take place in more than 105 cities around the world. This goes to show that contrary to what some have argued, global protests or solidarity movements do not only arise in opposition to the West or Israel. Human rights and pro-democracy advocates mobilize wherever and whenever human rights and injustice are endemic. This solidarity movement for the people of Iran reaffirms my faith in the normative objectivity of the human rights movement.Jul 25, 2009
